This area was inhabited by Native Americans of the Fernando Tataiam and Chumas-Venurano tribes for 8000 years!
In 1922, Victor Girard Kleinberger bought 2,886 acres and founded the town called Girard. He sought to attract residents and businesses by developing infrastructure, advertised in newspapers and planted 120,000 trees! After the community was incorporated is when it would become known as Woodland Hills in 1945.
In 2008 the population was 63,000, probably more now. It’s one of the least dense neighborhoods in los Angeles with a high percentage of white people in the county.
The cities that surround Woodland Hills are Calabasas, Tarzana, Topango and is a short drive to the famous beaches of Malibu. The Main street is Ventura Blvd and is very lively with activities and attractions that are fun and entertaining experiences. The street is comprised of bars, gastropubs, delicious food and live music. It’s definitely known to be a very vibrant destination in the valley should you ever visit.
Woodland Hills has a lot of great shopping one of which is the largest shopping mall in California, called Westfield Topanga mall. It has about 300 shops in it and it’s highly likely to run into a reality star or 2.
The activities for active people include hiking that is considered to be an epic experience due to the exercise vast views. One of the places to definitely head over to is the Upper Las Vergenes Open space preserve that spans about 3,000 acres and offers many trails.
There are lot’s places like the top of Topanga overlook to see breathtaking views of the Santa Monica Mountains, San Gabriel Mountains and the San Fernando Valley below.
Finally, residents love their Tavern, Dirty Bull Tavern which has 40 beers on tap and a generous happy hour.
