Cathedral City HomesThis City in Riverside is just outside of Palm Springs in Riverside County, California. It’s nickname? “Cat City” and it’s about 21.8 square miles.

In 2010 the population was said to be 51,200 which is considered the second largest population in Coachella Valley, after Indio.

The city was named in 1850 by a man named Colonel Henry Washington. It derived from Cathedral Canyon, he though the rock formations were reminiscent of an actual cathedral.

It started as a housing subdivision in 1925 but long after it became incorporated in 1981 and has grown exponentially since then. In the 1990s, they had a revitalization program which was completed in 2005. An Imax theatore, lots of stores and a new city hall was built.

There are lots of parks in the city, 9 to be exact, ie, Century Park,Memorial Park, Ocotoillo Park, Patriot Park, Second Street park, Dennis Keat Soccer park, Town Square, Dog park and there is a proposed park that may be built.

The city also has several golf courses ranging from country clubs to golf resorts.

The economy stays afloat party by an automotive Mega-dealership known as the Palm Springs Auto mall. Cathedral City hosts an annual Mexican Independence Day festival the 3rd weekend of September.

Here are a few interesting things about Cathedral city…it has a vibrant history and the neighborhoods are super clean. It’s minutes from palms Springs, the airport, the 10 freeway and has retail services galore.

I love movie history, this place is the home to the Fields of Dreams Baseball park which is great for family sports all year round.

Cathedral City has great views and best valued housing in the area. And the best part is it has Knott’s City Water Park which makes visits with your family in the summer that much more fun.
